Today we have entered the era of quantum technology when quantum mechanics as science has obtained a very important practical role. This was very hard to imagine a few decades ago.
Quantum physics is the physical basis of modern nanoelectronics, optoelectronics, and computer technology. The new generation devices are based on the regularities of the quantum world. There are serious expectations that all these changes will lead to qualitative growth in electronic instrumentation. Quantum technologies can be extensively used in the military industry, in the development of quantum computers, and in cyber security, specifically in the encryption of bank databases.
Considering the current international scientific-educational developments, the foundation will accomplish a one-and-a-half year master’s degree programme in “Quantum and Mesoscopic Physics” based on the licensing procedure for the implementation of the master’s degree programme provided by The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia.
Within the scope of this program, the lessons will be given by highly qualified Armenian lecturers from leading foreign universities. The one-and-a-half year master’s degree programme will be free of charge. Education will be organized through lectures, practical works, seminars, and laboratory classes. During the studies, each master will have his/her scientific supervisor, with whom he/she will do research work, preparing for the Master’s thesis. The latter will be published in the form of a scientific article.
The goal of this program is to train high-quality specialists who can manage the problems of the military industry, ensuring the security of the country, as well as investing their knowledge in private companies, doing research work, and beginning startups, that can later be turned into domestic technological companies.
Considering that the Armenian scientists of the world’s leading scientific centers will widely participate in the educational process, the Masters will also be involved in the working process of the scientific groups of the corresponding centers.
By the end of the program, it is expected to have availability of specialists with advanced knowledge in the fields of quantum and mesoscopic physics, who will be integrated into the international scientific community and various scientific groups, will become high-quality specialists for the country’s security system and will form scientific ecosystem through startup companies, thus making Armenia into a regional scientific-educational center.
