“Horizons” in Syunik Province

Taking into account the successes achieved in Armavir and Aragatsotn Provinces and the great interest that the Program sparked among the students, the “My Step” Foundation, in association with the Armenian National Agrarian University, is launching the second stage of the “Horizons” Dual Education Program. Nine high schools (the high schools in Angeghakot, Brnakot, Shaghat, Shamb, Lor, Shaki and Sisian, High School #1 and High School #4 in Goris) in the enlarged Sisian and Goris communities of Syunik Province were selected as beneficiaries of the Program.

The “Agrotechnology” course will be introduced in Syunik Province with two components, including:

• management of horticulture and livestock breeding
• processing of primary agricultural products, launch of the latest technologies.

At the end of the Program, the learners will have fundamental knowledge about field crops and vegetables; the species composition of perennial fruit and berry plants; rounded varieties and their grouping; the technologies of cultivation; the distribution of fields and gardens; the breeding of various farm animals and the organization of their behavior, as well as the introduction of the latest and state-of-the-art technologies in the agriculture sector and their effectiveness.

During the Program, teachers will participate in a training course devoted to biology, geography, physics, chemistry, technology and social sciences. They will be provided with the required training materials and methodical assistance, while practical lessons will be organized for the learners at various companies, factories, as well as agribusiness enterprises.
