Realizing the significance of quality education for Armenian society’s potential development and human capital development and sustainable professional growth in Armenia, between 2018 and 2020, the “My Step” Foundation carried out an educational-cultural program through which scholarships were granted to the young Armenians who had gotten accepted to the world’s leading educational institutions, who wished to pursue professions arising from the priorities for Armenia’s sustainable development and were ready to return to the homeland and serve their knowledge and skills for the country’s advancement upon the end of their studies.
The program was carried out in a simple manner and transparently — the scholarships were granted after the applications of the applicants and the results of the selection committee and interview were summed up. The Foundation provided funding for studies devoted to the professions arising from the priorities for Armenia’s development, including studies in the following sectors: agriculture, veterinary medicine, healthcare, medicine, data science, urban development, biology, biochemistry, urban studies, etc. The Foundation had 82 scholarship recipients, who studied at the world’s top universities, including Harvard University, University of Oxford, University College London, University of Cambridge, Georgia Institute of Technology, Polytechnic University of Milan, etc. Another 4 students were granted scholarships to explore cancer treatment at postgraduate institutions.
After the 44-day war, the Foundation made the transition from the implementation of development programs to the implementation of humanitarian programs. The scholarship program for the 2021-2022 Academic Year continued only for students learning through the Foundation’s Program, and in 2022, the Foundation decided to gear the available resources towards the implementation of educational programs in Armenia.
