Increasing the attractiveness of Armenia as a tourist destination is one of the strategic goals of the “My Step” Foundation. Attaching importance to classical music and its future development, taking into consideration the rich history and cultural heritage of Armenia, as well as the fact that cultural tourism is very prospective for Armenia’s economy, between 2018 and 2020, the “My Step” Foundation assisted in holding 3 major festivals, including the following:
“Yerevan Perspectives” – The “MY STEP” Foundation, attaching importance to the preservation and development of classical music in Armenia and through the “Group of Friends of Classical Music” initiative, supported the 19th and 20th “Yerevan Perspectives” International Music Festivals. The festivals featured performances by world famous musician Yuri Bashmet with his Moscow Soloists chamber orchestra, The Swingles vocal group, legendary pianist Ivo Pogorelić, the Grammy Award-winning Parker Quartet and the legendary Amadinda Percussions Group.
“Silk Note” – The “MY STEP” Foundation and the Association for Development of Cultural Tourism NGO jointly organized the unprecedented Silk Note Festival, which featured 3 concerts that included light shows, as well as performances by internationally recognized musicians and bands such as:
1․ Jamiroquai – Grammy Award winner, nominated for the BRIT Award;
2․ The Parov Stelar Band – world famous electronic music band in the international arena;
3․ Al Di Meola – world guitar virtuoso in the last four years.
Local and foreign media outlets provided wide coverage of the festival that gathered nearly 15,000 visitors, including 2,000 tourists.
“Phantom” – With the support of the “MY STEP” Foundation, Yerevan hosted the latest cultural festival — the “Phantom” International Festival of Contemporary Music, Arts and Urban Development, one of the major goals of which was to ‘revitalize’ the public spaces in Yerevan that are not used much and are abandoned and to convey new air to cultural life in Yerevan. In 3 days, the festival gathered nearly 4,300 visitors, including 1,700 tourists. The event featured performances by more than 80 artists from 22 countries who presented the modern trends in sound art, contemporary electronic, instrumental and club music.
