Out of all the students of the “Quanta” Master’s Degree Program in Quantum and Mesoscopic Physics held by the “My Step” Charitable Foundation, 33% of them can continue to practice science. This is based on the observation made by Director of the Institute for Physical Research at the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia Aram Papoyan, who has been delivering lectures for students of the “Quanta” Program for the past two academic years already. According to Professor Papoyan, this year’s cohort is also a cohort of chosen students since all of them have great potential.
“This is a unique group, and we have high hopes for them. Armenia has set the objective to ensure a groundbreaking development in the area of quantum technology, and in this case, there are great expectations from the students of the “Quanta” Program,” Aram Papoyan emphasized.
The Professor went on to say that the whole world attaches importance to quantum science and technologies and that it is necessary to prepare at least 100 young scientists in order to keep up with the times and ensure smooth change of generation. He added that, in this sense, “Quanta” serves as an exclusive opportunity.
“These small groups are very effective in terms of the preparation of quality specialists. I am very content with the Program and believe it should be ongoing. The Program is also exceptional in the sense that, besides the local and renowned lecturers, well-known foreign lecturers also provide service to the students through the Program. They also give positive feedback about “Quanta”, and I think this is not just a compliment since I have worked with many lecturers and we observe the rule of being honest with each other,” Professor Papoyan said.
Today marked the last lesson of the subject that the Professor teaches, and what makes it different from the rest is that it is based on the scientific articles published in recent years, not textbooks or concrete programs. Aram Papoyan believes educational programs should be updated on an annual basis and says he will introduce new articles to the next cohort of students.
“In “Quanta” I saw an opportunity to work beyond patterns and apply more creative approaches. The subject that I particularly teach is experimental in nature and is more of an applied subject,” Aram Papoyan stressed.
Professor Papoyan has also worked in France and given lectures to students from different countries in different periods, and he emphasized the fact that the levels of education of those students and of the students of “Quanta” are completely comparable.
