The “My Step” Foundation continues to promote the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines in the schools and universities in Armenia. This time the schools of 4 settlements in Aragatsotn Province (Vardges Petrosyan Basic School in Ashtarak, P. Babkenyan Basic School in Oshakan, Usub Bek Basic School in Shamiram and Kh. Abovyan Secondary School in Vardablur) received laboratory equipment for the physics and chemistry classes.
A number of educational institutions have been deprived of the opportunity to hold natural science classes in laboratories for decades. This initiative of the “My Step” Foundation is aimed at filling this gap and organizing classes based on not only theory, but also practice.
“These laboratory devices and kits will help the children be able to fully learn physics and chemistry and grind away,” said Sargis Hovnanyan, Principal of the Basic School in Oshakan.
The equipment was equally distributed among the four schools, starting from the most ordinary flasks and ending with telescopes and equipment designed for experiments. The schools will also be provided with separate classrooms to set up laboratories soon.
“The availability of laboratories will make the chemistry and physics lessons more interesting and more desired for the pupils, and teachers will no longer have to use various domestic appliances to conduct experiments,” said Tatevik Sargsyan, Principal of the Vardges Petrosyan Basic School in Ashtarak.
The “My Step” Foundation will also provide laboratory collections to 3 schools in Armavir Province, the STEM School at Yerevan State University and the Vazgen Sargsyan Military Academy soon.
